CrossFit Strong  -- Athlete of The Month
Strong Heart, Strong Mind, Strong Body

We chose Lindsay as our athlete of the month after watching her dedication here in the box. In our eyes, she has really shined in a way that raised her status as a CrossFitter! She contributes positively to the community (she is one of our liquor girls right?), always tries to improve with cues from coaches, and pushes herself out of her comfort zone during her training. The decision was finalized after seeing her do grace with solid cleans and jerks and during the 12 days of Christmas (her favorite!) as she kept pushing herself to the brink of passing out. Her willingness to learn, listen, and do what we ask no matter what is one of the many reasons we picked Lindsay to be our athlete of the month. She always strives to get better and does it with a super positive attitude and we love it. She came here to reach a level of fitness she did not obtain after paying her personal trainer at 24 hour fitness tons of money. Other than being a veggie tale, we love her! She is always trying to make our box the best and make those around her feel included with her great smile and personality.

 Lindsay's Transformation
How have you seen yourself change – mentally or physically – since being a part of CFS? -- Mentally, I feel that Crossfit has given me the mental strength to push myself and do things that I never thought I could do. My energy is up and overall I just feel better physically. It’s also brought me a new appreciation of what I put into my body and how to use food as fuel. Therefore, I have been eating less and trying to weed out the processed food and incorporate more nuts, seeds, and vegetables that add value. Physically, I have dropped a size and about 5 pounds- which is fabulous and I feel stronger overall.
What is your favorite move? — Push Press
What is your least favorite move? — You should know this coach….box jumps and Double Unders!! PS- Can all of the injured Box Jumpers please sign a box?? Daemon, Josh, Adrienne??
What has been your favorite WOD so far? — As much as I hate to say it, the 12 days of Christmas because it was a real test mentally and physically.
What has been your least favorite WOD ? — Mylegsmylegsmylegs….front squats and box jumps…not my favorite at all!!

What are some of your goals that you have for yourself in the next year? — I would like to run a ½ marathon and learn how to run more efficiently and faster. Do pullups & dips on my own- no bands. Continue to get stronger both mentally and physically….aspire to be like Nicole- nothing phases her!
How do you see CrossFit as different from other programs? — Well for starters, there is no Sauna with naked Japenese men in there….24 Hour Fitness!!! Okay on a serious note, I have had a trainer and I have been an avid gym goer for years, but it’s just not the same. When I had a trainer, sometimes we would do the same workout for 2 or 3 sessions and that just lead to sheer boredom and wasted money. I feel like Crossfit pushes you to your tipping point, to that point of no return; therefore making you stronger & leaner. I didn’t really know what I was signing up for other than it was intense and challenging and I liked that. But, it’s was a pleasant surprise to see how patient and encouraging all of the coaches are and how much you all care. I love that if you are doing something half-ass, someone will call you out or tell you to go harder or faster. The competitive atmosphere is nothing like you would find at any gym.

Did you think a sport of elite fitness would ever be for you? — Lol- nope. . I love intense challenging workouts, but never considered the kinds of crazy stuff we do day in day out…i.e. tire flipping and crawling on the ground!

How can other people relate to your story? — I think we all know where we’ve been but, it’s amazing to think of where we can go and what we can do. If you would have told me to run a 10k a year ago I would have laughed but, now I wouldn’t think twice because I know I could do it. We all put limitations on ourselves of just how far we can go and Crossfit has helped me look beyond that and given me the confidence to do more. For me, I had to get past the mental barriers. I think that if you think you can’t you won’t but, if you think you CAN you probably will….it’s all mental. Sometimes when I get home and calculate just how many pushups/ air squats/ etc; I am amazed that I really did that much. It really is empowering and I feel like I am a different person than I was 3 months ago…thanks to you all.

What is something that others may not know about you? -- I am a vegetarian that hunts. My dad took me hunting a few years ago and I shot two dear one after another! I know, its crazy weird, but I thought that all of you carnivores would appreciate it…..and its Paleo right? J
