Nutrition Matters
Modern Diets are ill suited for our genetic composition. Evolution has not kept pace with advances in agriculture and food processing resulting in a plague of health problems for modern man. Coronary heart disease, diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis, obesity and psychological dysfunction have all been scientifically linked to a diet too high in refined or processed carbohydrate.
We will be hosting for our members free monthly nutrition Classes. The first one will be December 19th, 2009 @ 9:00AM at our 4755 McEwen Rd, Dallas TX, 75244 for Members Only.
Hang out for an hour as we give you some background information on why CrossFit prescribes the Paleolithic/zone nutrition. More information to be posted on our Website. www.crossfitstrong.com

White Rock Strategy Meeting
Let's get organized! For those that are wondering, how to run the relay, where to meet, what to wear, what to eat. We will have a quick meeting for you guys this Wednesday 12/09/09 at 6:30 pm at our Box. In the Meeting, we will discuss everything from pace to food to bathrooms to transportation. Don't miss it.

We have 5 people running the marathon, 5 running the ½, and 15 participating in the relays – 3 relay teams.  Packet Pickup is on Friday & Saturday ONLY – you will not be allowed to pick up your packet on Race Day.  You can go on Friday from 1-6pm or Saturday 9am-6pm.  Only 1 person from the relay team needs to go to pick up the packet.  Here is the link to see all requirements for packet pick up:  http://www.runtherock.com/race_info/marathon/packet_pickup.html

The Race starts at 8am at the American Airlines Center.  More information to come in regards to meeting up & carpooling.  Those running the relay race, there will be buses to bus you to your stop – here is the link to see what time the buses pick up: http://www.runtherock.com/race_info/relay/exchange_buses.html Stay tuned for more information as when it gets closer to Race Day.

We will also plan on meeting here on Saturday 12/12/09 to stop by the All Cities and show our support and then head down and pick up race packets.  Spencer would love to see 40 of us come into their box.  Next year will be better prepared and compete. Watch the main page for an exact time of for the meet-up. Most likely after 12pm.

Power Lunches in January
Reserve you space now! It will be limited class size to ensure a quick WOD, and it will start in January. The class will be at 12:00 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. We will increase as demand grows. Want to increase it, fill out the survey and gives us your times. If 12:00 is not the best, we will change it. THE TIME IS NOW to DECIDE! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Q9J285W
Dressing for Winter WOD's
It is cold, then hot, then cold. What are we going to do? The answer is simple. Wear layers. Most importantly, a CFS Sweatshirt! (Ok that was just a little marketing) It takes a bit to get into the Winter WOD's again. It is extremely important that everyone follows the Dynamic Warm-up prior to the skills/WOD. Keeping the joints/muscles mobile and loose is imperative. By wearing layers, you can easily shed them if you are feeling over heated, but don't forget to cover back up after the WOD's as the Cold air runs back over your body.  (That sounded like a drug store novel)

We are installing timers for the heaters to automatically kick on 3 hours before you get here, but as you know those things get hot. We will make adjustments as necessary. For those calorie burners, it is better to workout in the cool temps. The body burns more calories! (learned that in wrestling)/td>

 Lots of Tidbits
Goals are Important -- I want to know them. If you haven't filled out this, please take a second and go here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/53JGNYM
Parking -- We have plenty of parking now. Here are some rules to help us out. Please park in the East, West, and South Parking Lots! Please don't park in the streets in front of the building for running and traffic. Thanks Guys.
Social Friday's -- Bring Your Friends to our Social Friday's. After the 5:30 WOD on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month starting again in January!!!! Have a Beer or beverage with your fellow friends and athletes. Invite your friends to meet the crew and be a part of the strongest community in DFW!  If you like this idea, send me an email. Just to let me know.
Olympic Lifting Cert -- The man himself, Coach Burgener, will be coming to our box in March to teach us some more about Olympic Lifting.  This is a great opportunity. I would not miss it if possible. These spots will fill up fast. So get on board. Register HERE!
Shirts/Hoodies — THEY ARE HERE – just in time for this crazy cold weather!  We have a long sleeve tee, a pullover hoodie, and a zip up hoodie.  The zip up hoodie comes in red & black – but the black is only in small & medium, sorry men!  They are looking to run a bit larger – especially for the ladies – I think it is because they are unisex shirts, not men/women, which we have ordered in the past.  We will also have short sleeved running shirts, a dry wick fabric.  We would love for those who participate in our organized runs to wear them to represent!!  We are going to give those who are running White Rock first choice in size if they would like to purchase one.  Here is the breakdown of the prices: Sweatshirts - $30 -- Long Sleeve Tee - $20 -- Running Shirt - $25

YOGA — We have almost narrowed down our yoga instructor.  Need work on your flexibility? CFS wants to offer Yoga classes, Yoga post workout stretching, and some Intense Yoga classes. We need your input. That's right another survey: Click Here to take survey
 More Tidbits
Intern Coaches — We have the following Level 1 Athletes that will be interning as coaches to help out around the place. Classes and Showers -- Finally, we have three women and three men's showers and dressing rooms. Get that work out done in the morning and quit putting it off or making excuses.  Your time is now!  We have 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 morning and evening classes. We will be opening lunch and other class as needed, just let us know. Or Get your own group together. Our Schedule is Here!
Web site -- UPLOAD YOUR PICTURE TO YOUR PROFILE! NO EXCUSES, DO IT! Get a friend to help you size it if you
can't figure it out It helps people to put a face with a name, so if you aren't planning on changing it for a while,
then please make sure the picture shows YOUR face.
RSVP- RSVP, RSVP, RSVP, RSVP -- Please do it. We program our workouts based on the number of people who RSVP with us. So help us, help you and do it. You MUST RSVP before 8pm the night before a morning class. We like our sleep too, so if no one is signed up, then we won't be here, you woke up early, and you missed a workout lose/lose, so RSVP.
