Crossfit Strong Kids Fall 2012
Posted On 08/29/2012 10:57:50
Now that school has begun and fall is upon us, Crossfit Strong Kids will be moving to a new time.  Starting in September we will have kids classes twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30pm. This will give you just enough time to pick the kids up from school, grab a quick, healthy snack and head up to the box for some fun and exercise.  The kids class will consist of a warm up, skill work, a wod, and always ends with a game. In addition to the physical benefits, your child will also learn the value of hard work, trying new things, and encouraging others. So its a win, win!

All are welcome age 3-12 and just like our adult classes, everything is scalable to meet each childs age, ability, and endurance level.  We want this program to be successful, so please help us spread the word to everyone with kiddos.  If your kids have not been able to check it out over the summer, come try it.  First class is free!  If your kids have participated please post a comment and let others know what they think about it.

So remember:

Crossfit Strong Kids
First week: September 4th and 6th at 4:30pm
Held every Tuesday and Thursday at Crossfit Strong
Price: $50 a month per child/ $25 per month each additional child in the family

--- Pilot Program was a Success ---

The CrossFit Strong Kids Program has been running for three weeks now and the kids have all enjoyed themselves and are getting a good work out at the same time.  We will be continuing the program for the remainder of the summer and would love to have your kids join.  It starts this week!

--- The Final Summer Kids Program ---

When: July 17th 2012 – August 10th, 2012

Times: 12:00 PM every Tuesday & Friday

Cost: $50 for 1st child / ½ price for each additional child in the same family

---What Happens After Summer ---

After August 10th, we hope to still offer a kids class but that will depend on you!  We know that schedules get very busy and we are trying to find the best possible time slot to offer our kids class.

Some possible options would be 12pm, 4pm, 4:30pm, 5:30pm or another time slot...  We would love to get some feedback from you as we settle on a specific class time.  Some questions we need answered are:

Which class time would your child be able to attend given school and/or extracurricular activities?

Do you have children that fall into the different age groups? (Preschool 3-5) and (Kids 6-12)?

Would you want the option of working out during the same class hour that your kids are participating in CrossFit Kids?

Would you need childcare for other children who are too young for CrossFit Kids?

We value you as members of CrossFit Strong and want our box to impact your entire family.  Send us an email at kids@crossfitstrong.com and let us know if you are interested.  Also, please tell us how this program can work for your family as we move into the fall by answering our questions.  Spread the word about our program!! All are welcome!  Now, 3-2-1-GO!!

Thanks for your time,

CrossFit Strong Kids Program

Craving the Good
Posted On 02/20/2011 22:31:55

So I know Malachi already posted a link to the blog I did during my Whole 30 Challenge but I wanted to officially throw my hat in the ring and thought I should summarize my experience myself.  This challenge was probably one of the most intimidating things I have ever done.  I am a fairly disciplined person but for whatever reason I have always been an unhealthy eater and resisted my husbands attempts to convert me to the paleo diet.  When this challenge was put forth I really kind of saw it as the new frontier to be conquered in my life.  I started at Crossfit Strong this past November and on top of getting stronger and more fit I have gained a lot of confidence because I have been able to do things I never thought were possible.  I think this confidence coupled with the support of everyone else doing the challenge really gave me the courage to give it a shot.

If you want to read my entire blog, Craving the Good, you can definitely do so.  Here is the link:  www.cravingthegood.blogspot.com but for those who want a shorter version here is the bulk of my last entry that sort of sums up my 30 days.

My thirty days are up! Every time I think about being done I cant help but start singing the theme song from Dora the Explorer (those of you without kids may be completely lost on this one) but when Dora, Boots, and Backpack accomplish whatever mission they are on for the day they sing this song that starts off, "We did it, we did it, we did it!" I can demo for you if you need me to:)

Anyway, I did it! and Malachi did too so I am so super proud of us both. Overall, this was an amazing experience for me. I definitely learned a lot about discipline, receiving grace from the Lord during challenging times, and being able to achieve things that I didnt think were possible for me.

Some of my highlights from this Whole 30 Challenge are:

1. Actually completing the 30 days without cheating once

2. Learning new recipes for meals (we all remember the 2 hour chicken)

3. Doing pull ups Rx

4. Discovering that it is possible to make a grilled cheese sandwich for your son without taking a bite

5. Seeing more definition and tone in my body

6. Receiving so much love and support from my family and friends

7. Feeling more energized and less need for naps during the day

8. Dropping body fat-I lost 4%

9. Being able to do 100 burpees in 5:56 and intimidating my husband with my fast time so he doesnt try to do the WOD:)

10. Getting to share with a few people at the box that the Lords grace is what is getting me through this challenge.

So, the take away is that this diet plan truly has a lot of benefits. I feel stronger, fitter, more energized, and overall just more in control of my eating habits. I really feel my view of food has changed from something that I indulged in to more of a fuel source for my body. I absolutely will stick with eating a Whole 9 diet, probably not 100%, but most of the time. Thanks for challenging us all Crossfit Strong! It has been an awesome 30 days!!!
