There is an interesting trend going around these days called “Cooperative Childcare” and I thought of CrossfitStrong parents when I learned about it.  I just want to see where our members are on childcare needs, and if there are any that find themselves unable to get to classes at times because a sitter has cancelled on them, there is not a sitter, a spouse has to work late, etc.  Read on if you have ever found yourself in need of a helping hand with the kiddos while you workout.

Cooperative Childcare does not involve the assistance of a designated childcare provider.  The parents that utilize cooperative childcare work together to help each other out and share duties on a rotating schedule.  Cooperative childcare could take place in a member’s household or at the gym if space allows.  Ideally, we would schedule cooperative childcare on a day the Yoga/MMA studio is available because this would be easier than driving out to a different persons house each day.  I ran this by Gale today, and he expressed interest in the idea and asked me to spread the word to see whether our members are interested in this type of program.  Currently, Gale and Ashley are kind enough to offer free childcare at noon a few days a week, but this could be a great program for anyone not able to take advantage of that opportunity due to work or other obligations.

Cooperative Childcare can be as formal or informal as our members want it to be, but the idea is that each parent that wants to use it would have to lend a helping hand in the future so others involved in the program can also get their fair share of time in the gym.   Please post a comment if you can see yourself utilizing such a program.  If there is enough interest, perhaps all the parents can gather for a meeting and we can determine what would work best for everyone.

I told Amy, I will support as much as possible. Not a bad idea.
